A Surrey woman who was on life support for days following a tragic collision on the Coquihalla Highway has died, the coroner's service confirmed Wednesday.

Emma Chwilkowski, 22, was the passenger in a Honda Civic that collided with a commercial transport truck on Feb. 16. Regional coroner Mark Coleman said she died Tuesday afternoon.

Her boyfriend, Christopher Birakowski, 26, died on impact when the vehicle crossed the median near the Inks Lake brake check and slid into the truck's path.

The driver of the transport truck suffered minor injuries. The accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. when driving conditions were bad after a lengthy snowfall.
